Lurena Bell Dressage is open to all riders, no matter the age; and to all breeds and ages of horses. Many of our students are very successful in the competition ring, and we are very proud of their successes. Our measurement of a student's success, however, extends far beyond the competition ring to include individual training accomplishments. Specifically, we believe the student that achieves a 20 meter circle at the canter is just as successful as the student who gets their first flying lead change.

"I purchased a 'barely' Prix St. Georges horse named Ruxpin four years ago. Up to that point, I had competed at Training and First Level. Lurena helped me learn to ride Ruxpin, and I competed him at each level from First Level to PSG, earning my USDF Bronze and Silver medals. Last year, I competed in the USDF Dressage Finals in Lexington at Intermediate 1. This year, Lurena coached me extensively, and I was able to train Ruxpin to piaffe, passage and perform one tempi flying changes. It takes a special coach to train an Amateur rider who has never performed Grand Prix movements to train her own horse to this level. Ruxpin and I will debut at Grand Prix later this year. I am so grateful for Lurena's guidance and friendship. She is a wonderful and caring person." (August 2015)
I just got off Wvodka and am walking above the ground. He is going wonderfully! We did a line of 3 tempis that would have scored 8 or 9 and all I did was slightly shift my seat. Even though I've been told many times "less is best", with Wvodka (once he understands), it really is. His right pirouette schools well but after the clinic 2 weeks ago, his left is feeling like a pirouette. His medium canters are going well (even with my elbows staying into my sides). His medium trots are also going well and I can sit some (posting is better). Whether Wvodka is just better, or I am learning, things have been going very well with him. Thanks Lurena for 27 years of help and support. (Lee Ann Alf, May 2015)
"Thank god for Lurena, her patience and kindness is so appreciated, especially when you just cannot remember your right from your left! I cannot always get to her place on a regular basis, but when I am there . . . it is always magical and I go home with a lot of homework." (Linda Langston, November 2014)
"I love riding with Lurena as she makes me feel so confident, like Azzie and I could take on Grand Prix tomorrow". (Laura Murray, November 2014)
"Lurena is making my dreams come true, to become the best dressage rider that I can be, all the while having fun! . . . We have come from . . . Intro to showing Training Level with plans to move up to First Level in the new year. Thank you so much, Lurena! (Mariette Curnutt-Zutter, November 2014)
"I could never express in words how helpful and patient Lurena has been with me after my fall several years ago (off Fergus). When I made the decision to keep Fergus and work through the fear, she supported me all the way, and has enabled me countless times to push through my fears. I can finally say that I am no longer "surviving" my rides, but rather am riding with focus and purpose." (Chris Nicoloff, November 2014)
